Founded in the 1920s as a family pharmacy in Correggio, Recordati is today a global pharmaceutical company, listed on the Italian Stock Exchange and present in over 150 countries, with more than 4,300 employees. The company is recognised for its commitment to developing therapies that improve and transform patients’ lives, both in rare diseases and more common conditions.
At the Aprilia production site, one of the group’s strategic hubs, reliability, safety, and precise thermal control are essential to ensure operational continuity and process quality. For this reason, Recordati chose Zudek to design a refrigeration system capable of operating at extremely low temperatures, in a context with particularly stringent safety requirements.
The Aprilia site required a cooling system operating at -40 °C, with equipment suitable for installation in an ATEX Zone 1 classified area, therefore subject to explosion risk. The main challenge was combining low process temperatures, high safety standards, and continuous operational reliability.
To meet the customer’s needs, Zudek designed a fully explosion-proof unit, equipped exclusively with ATEX-certified components and capable of operating in particularly severe environmental conditions, down to +5 °C.
The project required specific engineering attention: the very high Delta T and the need to ensure stable performance at extreme temperatures made the solution particularly complex and highly customised.
The new installation provides key benefits for Recordati:
This project confirms Zudek’s commitment to providing safe, high-performance, and tailor-made refrigeration solutions, even in the most critical applications in the pharmaceutical sector.
